CHRISTIAAN VAN DEN AMEELE
1640 - 1730
Zijn voorouders en nageslacht / His ancestors and descendants

This is the title of our family book. For many years, Jilly van den Ameele has been working on gathering all sorts of information on our family genealogy and family history, which he eventually could compile and the result is this magnificent book.

A book on the history of about 500 years of the different branches of the van den Ameele family. The book embraces 17 generations and approximately 4,500 names. During the period 1844 - 1925, many of our ancestors emigrated to the USA. In the USA we have several changes of the original van den Ameele name to Ameele (with different possible pronunciations), Kehler-Ameele, O'Meal, VanderMalle, VanderMallie and Van Den Ameele.

The book also contains historic articles, such as:
- The region around Poperinge, Flanders, before 1700
- Van den Ameeles, three centuries in West Zeeuws-Vlaanderen
- Our Ancestors and Wayne County NY, USA
For more human interest, also (old) photographs and documents are published in the book.
Furthermore, of course a lot of information about our ancestors, as well as about the present generations is provided.

The book had to be presented to our family members. Soon a magnificent idea occurred :
organizing a great family reunion

In May 2005 a committee of family members of our three different family branches was set up to organize such a reunion.

The members of the committee preparing the reunion :
- of the Christiaan line : Nico en Oda van den Ameele from Hillegom
- of the Jan line : Daan en Vera van den Ameele from Berkel en Rodenrijs
and of the Romanus line :
- Addy Huisman - van den Ameele from Zoutelande
- Annie Zonnevijlle - van den Ameele from Oostburg
- Jilly van den Ameele from Terneuzen
